Six things growers need to know about Zidua SC herbicide

New tool for corn, soybean and wheat growers provides another option for weed control

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, November 7, 2017 — Growers in the U.S. have a new solution in the fight against resistant weeds: Zidua® SC (Suspension Concentrate) herbicide. Zidua SC herbicide offers the same long-lasting weed control as Zidua herbicide, but in an improved SC liquid formulation. The suspension concentrate formulation will improve handling and tank mixability for a better application experience.

"Resistant weeds continue to challenge growers who are requesting new tools to help manage their fields," said Daniel Waldstein, BASF Technical Marketing Manager. "As weed management becomes increasingly complex, Zidua SC herbicide gives growers a simple solution to combat resistant weeds and help boost yields on their farms."

While there is plenty to talk about when it comes to this new herbicide, here are the top six things growers need to know about Zidua SC:

  1. It is a "pick six." Zidua SC herbicide is labeled for six crops: corn, cotton, peanuts, soybeans, sunflowers and wheat.
  2. It likes clean beans. For soybeans, Zidua SC controls Palmer pigweed and waterhemp up to 10 percent better than other residual herbicides.
  3. It is a treat for wheat. For wheat, Zidua SC is a new class of herbicide chemistry. Also, it is the only solo product that provides application flexibility from delayed preplant to early postemergence in wheat.
  4. It has a great rate. Across all registered crops, Zidua SC has use rates up to 20 times lower than other residual herbicides. Of group 15 herbicides, it offers the lowest use rate.
  5. It is on a solo mission. For corn and soybeans, Zidua SC is the only solo product of its kind with application flexibility from fall through early preplant to early postemergence in corn and soybeans.
  6. It is tough to resist. Zidua SC provides control on weeds resistant to not only glyphosate, but also triazines and ACCase, ALS and PPO inhibitors.
